Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below for some of our frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us on our Contact Page.

What can I use as an egg substitute in the recipe?

Our favorite egg substitute is 1 Tbsp ground flaxseed to 3 Tbsp water. Mix the flax and water in a bowl and allow to sit for 5 min. Then, add it to the recipe as you would an egg. It locks in moisture, making the cake extra delicious.

I’m dairy-free, does your recipe work without dairy?

Of course! Our recipes still taste amazing with any dairy-free milk and butter substitutes. If you ordered a kit whose sprinkles contain the large sixlet balls, these contain milk, as indicated on the label. Please easily remove them from the mix before decorating and enjoying your cake, dairy-free.

The recipe says “softened butter.” How soft does it need to be?

Ideally, the butter is at room temperature. In that, you can easily press your finger into it. Do not melt the butter.

My cake baked up like a dome. What happened?

This can happen when your oven is too hot, and the outside of the cake bakes before the middle, resulting in the unbaked middle being pushed up while it bakes. Going forward, lower your oven temperature a bit to bake your next cake. We also recommended purchasing an inexpensive oven thermometer (most grocery stores sell them in the baking aisle) to see the difference between the set and actual temperatures.

My child ate some of the dog cake! Help!

Not to worry – all of our dog cake ingredients are people-safe and people-friendly!
